Question by Mom of Ethan and Sophie and # 3 in my tummy: What do you do when your older toddler keeps taking toys from the younger toddler?
Ethan,3, keeps taking toys from Sophie, 17 months. I have tried to explain that Sophie is playing with them and when she’s done he can have them. He gets so upset, crying, saying “But, I want them.” I’ve tried putting him in time out for taking her toys. I’ve made him give them back and apologize.

I don’t want to take the toy away, as it’s not Sophie’s fault and she shouldn’t be punished for his actions.

Be persistent and consistent. God, it wears me down some days but if I take the easy way out it’s like starting all over again the next time it happens (and it will happen again until he is sure you are not allowing it.)

He’s testing you…lol. Little bugger. And he only wants it because she has it!
